Triethylamine is a clear, colourless volatile liquid with a strong fishy-like odor reminiscent of ammonia. It is used in making water proofing agents, and as a catalyst, corrosion inhibitor and propellant. Like diisopropylethylamine , triethylamine is also commonly employed in organic synthesis, usually as a base.
